An important message from the Wylie ISD School Board President about the bond developed with the input of taxpayers, parents, and grandparents:

“We educate our students and develop our curriculum based on the special values of our community. That’s how we ensure our 19,000 students are prepared for the future.
We listen to the suggestions and feedback of the families of Wylie ISD and this approach has been remarkably successful. We are home to National Merit Commended Scholars and National Merit Finalists. A record number of students are enrolled in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs.
From a financial perspective, our community input helped us earn an ‘A’ rating for financial accountability by the Texas Education Agency. Our current tax rate is 26% lower than it was five years ago. Capital projects from the 2019 bond package were completed on time and within budget.
Because of our successes, Wylie ISD is expected to grow by 3,100 students in the next 10 years. To address this continued growth and our ongoing management of facilities, a Master Facilities Planning Committee was formed this past January comprised of approximately 45 parents, teachers, students, business owners, civic leaders, and taxpayers from across Wylie ISD.
The volunteer committee spent months reviewing financial data, current academic needs, and student growth. They provided valuable input and asked the tough questions, which helped district leaders put together a comprehensive bond proposal for review by the Board of Trustees. The committee’s goal was to represent the expectations of our families and taxpayers well into the future.
On August 21st, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to place a $298 million bond proposal on the November ballot.
The election consists of one proposition to manage the fast growth of our district, avoid crowded classrooms, and maintain a high level of safety for our students and teachers.
